The properties include a walking stalk with a hook for the water bottle to rest upon, which the nomad nut-seller carries, a rucksack for his products and a money purse. The studies are for the various types of leather water bottles that he might be carrying. The leather could have been skinned off an animal like a camel or any other fowl.
The head studies are from random google images and show that most men from Kabul, Afghan{middle-east) have a rather oblong facial structure along with a huge, long isosceles nose and small eyes. The ears are big and they have wide lips. Their facial muscles are very prominent and also possess a strong lower jaw. Most of them have an evident male pattern baldness(more as they grow old) and a good amount of facial hair.
